Cat weight for frontline +Q: I just purchased a 6 month supply of frontline + from 1800petmeds for my 2 cats. the older cat of 7 years is 17 lbs and my 1yr old cat is only 8 lbs. although i haven't received the meds yet, considering the weight difference, would the same amount (one vile) be used on each cat? i don't want to harm them by using too much... thank you A: Use the same product on both cats.

OrbaxQ: My vet prescribe a week's supply of orbax for my cat. i just found out on your website that orbax should not be given with food. when adminstering antibiotics for my cats, i always dissolve the pill in a teaspoon of water and mix with about a tablespoon of wet food. this always works on all of my cats and is less tramatic. i do not like shoving pills down my cats mouth for a week or so. why can i not mix orbax with a little bit of food? or is it ok as long as it's very little? A: The way you are administering the dose seems fine, just give it to the cat before you feed it.
LevothyroxineQ: How often should a thyroid test be done on a 7 yr old maltese who has been on the drug 2 yrs? how many months of the drug can be ordered/filled by you with a vets o.k. at one time. A: How often to test is dependant on your pets response to treatment. if the pet is stabilized, your veterinarian may only need to do a test every 6 to 12 months. if your pet shows signs of hypothyroid or hyperthyroid, testing may need to be done every 3 months. in stabilized pets, and based on the veterinarians willingness, it is possible to have a prescription filled for a 1 year supply.
Substitute for rimadylQ: My spayed female dog, 10 years old,has lately been yelping prior to going out to urinate. i recently took her to her vet and brought a urine sample. urine was screened and came back negative. this yelping does occur mostly when she first wakes. vet examined her and concluded she may have arthritis. vet recommended rimadyl,75mg,twice a day for 14 days and to go back if no adverse to meds and will prescribe month supply. i would like to know if there is something else that can be given that would not have the risk of liver complications? would a asprin daily do the trick? A: You could try low doses of aspirin at 5 mg per pound once to twice daily with food(not tylenol) stop if any digestive side effects. you also could try glucosamine product like super joint enhancer from 1800petmeds as well as extra antoxidant nutrients like vitamin e at 400iu daily and vitamin c in form of ester c at 1000 mg twice daily

Expiration datesQ: I have a foster cat from my shelter. she has fleas so the shelter gave my some program to use on her since she is a bit feral and not easily handled. when i got home i saw that the program had and expiraton date of 8/97 on it!! should i still use it? A: No. this product expired 7 years ago. i would order a new supply of program, which is over the counter. i would also notify the shelter to have them remove the expired product.
Hairball medicineQ: My cat has a food allergy to anything containing a fish byproduct. i cannot give her any laxatone or hairball remedies (to prevent her vomiting) because all products contain one form or another of fish byproducts. what hairball remedy is available that doesn't contain any fish byproducts? A: I would try olive oil given at 1/2 to 1 teaspoon daily as well as can use wheat germ oil added to food as well or possibly cod liver oil at 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon daily. also use prozyme added to meals daily from 1800petmeds Shop for: prozyme, 1800petmeds Bladder stonesQ: Our min. snauzer has had problems with bladder stones two times in the past, and is on a diet of hills prescription diet - canine c/d. we are moving to pensacola flordia shortly and wonder if we could use some other food that has a higher acid content that is like the hills product. and does petmeds supply these food products? thank you. ronald. A: As of this time pet meds does not supply prescription food items. i would try and locate vet down there who carries the c/d
