Hairball medicineQ: My cat has a food allergy to anything containing a fish byproduct. i cannot give her any laxatone or hairball remedies (to prevent her vomiting) because all products contain one form or another of fish byproducts. what hairball remedy is available that doesn't contain any fish byproducts? A: I would try olive oil given at 1/2 to 1 teaspoon daily as well as can use wheat germ oil added to food as well or possibly cod liver oil at 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon daily. also use prozyme added to meals daily from 1800petmeds Shop for: prozyme, 1800petmeds Black head ingrown nippleQ: 3 year old male pit bull. he has a nipple growth in the middle of his stomach directly between his nipples. it appeared to be a black head. it finally popped as he scratched it - i removed the black head tip and treated it with antiseptic to stop the bleeding. however the nipple growth is still there? what should i do about the ingrown nipple? had i not seen it bleed, i'm concerned he could have bled to death. appreciate your feedback. A: I doubt he would have bled to death as not big blood supply to these. i would have vet check it out as sometimes these are prone to infection and sometimes they can be removed
Flea & tick control for puppiesQ: What should i purchase for a growing puppy? he is 15 pounds and about 10 weeks old. i hate to purchase a 3 month supply of something he will outgrow before it is all used. A: You don't say how big he will be. if he's going to be under 50 pounds you could get the medium size of lets say frontline plus and when you put on the first one you don't apply the complete tube.

Hot spotsQ: About 3 months ago my dog, max, started getting bald spots on his hind legs. then they started right at the top of his front legs by the joints. i brought him to the vet and they said it may be a mite problem. they did a couple skin scrapes but were not able to find any. they still decided to treat him for them anyway and said they are hard to find on the dog. they said to give him fish oil pills once a day and they prescribed ivermectin to him. i give him .9 ml once a day. it seemed to clear up but then it came back even worst and now he is biting those spots as well. i've been giving him ivermectin again for the last 2 weeks and it is not making any progress this time. it cost about 85$$$ for a 2 week supply. any ideas on what else i can do?? A: I would see different vet. you need definitive diagnosis here as might not be mite problem at all. i would recommend vet dermatologist consult or some vet who will do skin biopsy to get to cause so right treatment is done
