Head shakingQ: How is one to know the difference between prescription and non prescription medication when the vet gives you all medications? A: The prescription medication, which by the way we do carry, has a statement printed on the package that reads, to be dispensed by, or on, the prescription of a veterinarian. the non-prescription products do not have such a notation. if you are not sure, please call and we can supply you with specific information.
Tear ductsQ: Dr. doctor, my vet said that my shih-tzu (6 years old) has inactive tear ducts. she prescribed cyclosporin op dp2% 3xs daily for 2 weeks. this has been an on going problem for 3 years. i took my pet to an eye specialist approx. 1 1/2 years ago after my vet, at that time, recommenended it. the specialtist prescribed neopolydex and artificial tears ointment. i have spent a mini fortune for these presciptions and visits, which a friend told me i could get tear drops from a pet store and it will work just as good. i want to do what is best for my pet, but as i mentioned, i am spending alot on prescriptions and office visits. thanks for your help. pat A: We can supply the neo poly dex oint and the lubricant eye ointment for you with savings guaranteed at the time of the order. in most probability, the lubricant may be all you need.
Cost of medsQ: U say u will start to carry cyclosporine eyedrops, how much will they be. and if i order thru u, i will need a prescrition from vet. A: We currently do not dispense the cyclosporin eye drops. we can supply the tacrolimus eyedrops which are used for the same "dry eye".
OrbaxQ: My vet prescribe a week's supply of orbax for my cat. i just found out on your website that orbax should not be given with food. when adminstering antibiotics for my cats, i always dissolve the pill in a teaspoon of water and mix with about a tablespoon of wet food. this always works on all of my cats and is less tramatic. i do not like shoving pills down my cats mouth for a week or so. why can i not mix orbax with a little bit of food? or is it ok as long as it's very little? A: The way you are administering the dose seems fine, just give it to the cat before you feed it.
What kind of inexpensive dog food do you suggest?Q: Hello i have a 2yr old syb husky that i recued from the animal shelter. she is a wonderfull dog. i had been using iam's chicken adult dog food. i noticed that she was eating grass to settle her stomach. i thought this was a break in period till she got used to the new food. i have just ran out of the 40lb bag and she was still nibling at the grass in the back yard. i purchased some wal-mart brand ol-roy the performance dog food for active dogs which she is. she loves it she eats it up like there's no tomorrow. a friend told me though that it is garbage. i feed her a vitamin everyday and also joint suppliments just incase she has any problems with her joints later on. my question is. is the ol-roy dog food really that much different than the other expensive dog food that is on the market. is there a better inexpensive dog food that you would recomend. i seen how you suggested the all natural dog food as the best to buy. please don't get me wrong if i have to spend more money on her food i will do so. but i do not wish to spend more if it is not more of a benefit to her. thank you A: I will answer your question with analogy about status of our own meat supply whic is certainly in question with mad cow disease and other bacterial parasite risks evident in media. well most of meat that goes into cheaper dog foods is made from rejects of human consumption as well as other horrid sources. i would stick with natural brand foods like pet guard, wyssong, etc. only one i would even consider that is widely distributed is natures recipe
